Track 0353: NEW ORDER (Savage/Fogarty) 3:51 (BASCZAX) (20th January 1980)
(aka PROPAGANDA)
Musicians: John Hodgson – Yamaha SY1 synthesizer, Jen synthesizer, Alan Savage – guitar, lead vocals, Mick Todd – bass guitar, Jeff Fogarty – saxophone, Alan Cornforth – drums
Recorded: The Commercial, Thornaby (rehearsal) stereo cassette recorder, 2 remote microphones
Basczax had a quiet end to the year, with only six gigs in November and December, and the release of their only single “Madison Fallout” on Larry Ottaway's Pipeline label on December 1st.
None of the gigs were recorded, Alan had got out of the habit of routinely recording the gigs, which is a shame.
For some reason we moved rehearsals from The Teessider Pub to The Commercial Pub, just over the River Tees in Thornaby. We worked on new material, but the general feeling was that the newer songs didn't have the zest of the earlier material. “New Order” was a plodding keyboard driven song with high pitched vocals that haven't aged well.
