Track 0162: BUGGER OFF (Hodgson) 1:18 (BLITZKRIEG BOP) (25th May 1977)
Musicians: John Hodgson – lead vocals, backing vocals, Dimmer Blackwell – lead guitar, backing vocals, Ann Hodgson – rhythm guitar, backing vocals, Mick Hylton – bass guitar, backing vocals, Alan Cornforth – drums, backing vocals, Michael Charlton – backing vocals
Recorded: The Barn, Norton (room 2) 2 x reel-to-reel tape recorders (7 ½ ips) + Heathkit mixer (produced by Alan Cornforth)
This was a no-brainer to record for the single, it had gone down well live, with it's slightly tongue-in-cheek attitude, and the fact that it was so short. It was originally just over 30 seconds, but even I thought that was underkill, so we simply played it twice to bring it to a more respectable 77 seconds.
There was a Purity reunion of sorts with Michael Charlton from my first band in attendance, he was roped in to add backing vocals to the chorus.
