Track 0155: LONDON LADY (Greenfield/Burnel/Cornwell/Black) 2:32 (BLITZKRIEG BOP) (8th May 1977)
Musicians: John Hodgson – lead vocals, Dimmer Blackwell – lead guitar, backing vocals, Ann Hodgson – rhythm guitar, backing vocals, Mick Hylton – bass guitar, Alan Cornforth – drums, backing vocals
Recorded: The Speedway Hotel, Middlesbrough (live performance) reel-to-reel tape recorder + Heathkit mixer
The joy that the band felt when playing the punk set can be heard on this cover of The Stranglers song. It was the first time that we had felt that the audiences were really enjoying listening to us, rather than merely tolerating us.
In all the previous gigs, including the vast majority of Erection's, the audience would have been there in any event, our presence was incidental. From here on in people came to a Blitzkrieg Bop gig, too see the band. This was a big change.
