Track 0135: SEVEN SISTERS (Hodgson) 6:51 (ADAMANTA CHUBB) (c.March 1977)
Musicians: John Hodgson – lead vocals, synthesizer, electric organ, Dimmer Blackwell – guitar, becking vocals, Mick Hylton – bass guitar, Alan Cornforth – drums
Recorded: The Barn, Norton (room 2) stereo cassette recorder
A few days after the practise that produced three punk songs, Alan Cornforth was back on the drum stool and the old Chubb was back (with Mick on bass) after “ten crazy months” as I recounted in my diary.
Now, at the time it was decided that the punk songs should be added on to the end of the set, with the bulk of the music still played in the same overblown pseudo-prog style that the 1976 band had played.
In retrospect I would have done things differently, and stuck to a 100% punk set from day one, we wasted valuable time writing the wrong type of songs and even auditioning for new singers.
“Seven Sisters” was a lengthy mood piece similar to “Hatred Lost...Love Won” and this is the only version in the archive, an incomplete rehearsal version.
