Track 0128: SUNSHINE DAY (Tontoh/Amarifo/Osei) 5:11 (ERECTION) (4th February 1977)
Musicians: John Hodgson – electric organ, backing vocals, Eddie Hall – bass guitar, backing vocals, Ray Radford – guitar, Jed Duffy – drums, backing vocals, Yusef Nimar – congas, percussion, Dave Hughes – lead vocals, tambourine, Steve White – trumpet, Colin Hudson – saxophone
Recorded: Northallerton Community Centre (live performance) stereo reel-to-reel tape machine* (Produced by Alan Cornforth) *this copy is in mono
The Erection story, at least for me, was almost at an end.
We only had two more gigs after this before the arguments became intolerable and I felt I had to change direction towards punk rock.
Northallerton Community Centre was a cavernous hall and a prestige gig, and I took the trouble to ask Alan Cornforth to set up a reel-to-reel tape and record the evening.
For some reason his stereo recording only exists in mono, and not only that, only one song remains in the archive, from a “best of” Erection tape I had compiled. The full concert has been mislaid.
