Track 0102: ROCK THE NIGHT AWAY (Hodgson) 3:38 (ADAMANTA CHUBB) (p.April 1976)
Musicians: John Hodgson – electric organ, Dimmer Blackwell – guitar, Alan Cornforth – drums.
Recorded: The Barn, Norton (room 1) 2 x reel-to-reel tape recorders (7 ½ ips) + Heathkit mixer (produced by Alan Cornforth)
This is essentially an unfinished backing track, with no bass guitar or vocals, but it was probably the best recorded track that Alan produced.
It was my take on “Baba O'Riley” by The Who with a staccato organ intro and massive power chords from Dimmer, with his guitar sounding better than ever.
I can't help making the point that this track sounds a little “punky”, now, I'm not saying I invented punk, that's for others to decide...
It was also the last thing we recorded before we split up.
