Track 0094: STEALIN' (Byron/Hensley/Box/Kerslake) 4:17 (ADAMANTA CHUBB) (p.January 1976)
Musicians: John Hodgson – electric organ, backing vocals, Dimmer Blackwell – guitars, backing vocals, Alan Cornforth – drums, lead vocals
Recorded: The Barn, Norton (room 1) 2 x reel-to-reel tape recorders (7 ½ ips) + Heathkit mixer (produced by Alan Cornforth)
Yet another Uriah Heep tune, and despite the fact that Heep uber-fan Kevin McMaster had left the band, Alan proposed we record it, and he took on the lead vocals.
Although there was vague talk about recording an “album”, in the days before punk the idea that a “local” band without a record deal could release vinyl was fanciful. That didn't prevent us from creating mock LP covers, in fact I carefully cut out and glued a “fake” gatefold sleeve and carefully fashioned the lettering on the cover to read “John Hodgson – Legend And Lunacy”, which is where the title for this box set comes from.
We also created mock music magazines describing the exploits of Adamanta Chubb – rock band, complete with interviews, gig reviews and LP reviews.
