Track 0037: YOU NEED A WRITE UP (Hodgson) 1:11 (JOHN HODGSON) (early 1974)
Musicians: John Hodgson – piano, lead vocals
Recorded: Roseberry Studios (site 1) mono cassette recorder
A jaunty little tune from a tape I called “Breadwinner”, which, although billed as a Purity album, featured just me throughout.
The lyrics tell of the need for a band to get publicity to make it big. The lyrics were written on February 7th 1973 but it was over a year before I used them.
From the very start I kept a store of lyrics on scraps of paper, or carefully typed out A4 sheets, for use months or often years later.
