From 1974, with Michael largely out of the picture, I started labelling my tapes as “John Hodgson” rather than Purity, and the music reflected this, with most of the songs in the style of an earnest singer/songwriter.
My talent on the piano was still very basic, with poor technique, but you can spot an improvement in song structure from this point forward.
I was writing the names of the chords above the lines of lyrics and I picked up many chord variations quite early on, with a working knowledge of minor chords, inversions and even 7th's.
This song has an introduction, verses and a chorus, which cannot be said for many of the early Purity efforts.
