Track 0016: MAYBE NEXT TIME (Ward/Butler/Osbourne/Iommi/Hodgson/Charlton) 2:39 (PURITY) (c.March 1973)
Musicians: John Hodgson – piano, Michael Charlton – lead vocals
Recorded: Langley Studios (room 1) mono cassette recorder
There are two versions of this song in the archive, one was recorded at Braemar Studios (my sisters house in Billingham) using a cheap electric organ, and this version recorded at Mike's using the usual piano accompaniment.
It is a mash up of sorts, with the verses a direct cover of a song called “Changes” which appeared on Black Sabbath's “Vol.4” album in 1972, and the chorus which is of our own making. Quite why we did it like this is lost in the mists of time, but it works well, with Michael once again proving his worth as a vocalist.
