about

For immediate release, this brings together 18 of the best recordings from on of the UK's most inventive post-punk band, who shone briefly and brightly for eighteen months in 1979-80.
Basczax (originally called Basssax) were formed in 1978 by bassist Mick Todd, by early 1979 they were attracting the attention of Bob Last's Fast Records and contributed two songs alongside Joy Division to Earcom 2, a “magazine for the ears”, namely Kirlian Photography and Celluloid Love.
An indie label 7” single “Madison Fallout” soon followed, along with a nationwide tour with Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, and support slots with the likes of The Damned, The Flys, The Gang Of 4, Here & Now, The Rezillos, The Doll, The Flowers, The Revillos & The Punishment Of Luxury.
Sadly, the band imploded in August 1980 with Alan “Sav” Savage and Jeff Fogarty moving on to The Flaming Mussolinis who released two albums for Portrait/CBS later in the decade.
After many years of pleas by former fans, this CD finally gives them what they want – some great music!
